Starting August 1, players competing in youth, girls, high school or junior hockey within USA Hockey are required to wear neck laceration protectors (NLPs) for all games and practices. In addition, on-ice officials under the age of 18 as well as players in all six disciplines within USA Hockey’s disabled hockey program are also required to wear NLPs.
External Material
The Elite clavicle guard is made of a durable abrasion resistant nylon on the top while the back side uses Bauer’s ThermoMax to help keep you cool throughout the icetime. One thing worth noting is the use of a new, much more durable velcro than previously seen on Bauer neck guards.
Collar & Clavicle
The collar is much shorter than the Pro neck guard and uses a soft ThermoMax liner. The clavicle portion uses a mix of Rebound Control Foam and other HD foams to absorb impacts.
Shape
The Elite clavicle guard has the same shape as the Vapor it replaces with a wide shoulder wing and a shorter design that fits better into all chest guards than some other options on the market.
Certification
The Elite clavicle guard is not certified and should not be used in leagues governed by Hockey Canada where BNQ certification is required.
